Recently I made a video about how GoPro uses social media to promote its brand and interact with its users. Check out the video below.
In my opinion, one of GoPro’s best ideas is the GoPro app, allowing you to sync, share, and post photos to your social media and to the online community.
The app is an ingenious way to both maximise the use and efficiency of the GoPro, while also connecting with the consumer.

Great video! I think given that the GoPro essentially creates multimedia it is well-positioned to make the most of social media. Do you think it’s fair to say the success of a product’s digital engagement is dependent upon the type of product?

I think the type of product absolutely depends on the level of digital engagement it can reach. Products like GoPro or the iPhone achieve digital engagement so easily due to their use and the type of content they can create. However thats not to say you can’t take a product and create digital engagement with it, it depends on the marketing campaign. You might not think a body scrub would have much digital engagement, but people still take photos of themselves using things like Frankbod and upload to their various social media sites with the Frankbod hashtag. I guess it can be influenced both by the product and the campaign surrounding it!

Man I love gopros, i got one of the first generation ones years ago as a present and everytime i see new footage i feel the need to buy a new one out of impulse. I did download the app ages ago but never really got into it, maybe i’ll have to check it out again.

I got into the app while I was overseas and travelling. I could wirelessly transport photos from my go pro right onto my iPhone without any internet connection. And then once I got back on some wifi straight to Instagram for some likes 😉

Ahhh so thats how everyone has been getting the photos, i was really stumped as to how and why everyone was taking their laptops overseas to transfer photos… Got to get with the times!
